Justen's travel blog entry: "It's mid-evening of my first full day in London. After saying goodbye to Jan this morning (how come I keep meeting these awesome German people?), I had an expensive breakfast at the hostel and did some expensive laundry. £2.50 for one load in the washer (that's about $5 CDN). Christine says the exchange rate is good right now, but, wow! No one was kidding when they mentioned the high cost of living in London. Right now I'm at an internet café and will stop by a Tesco on the way back for some cheaper breakfast and lunch food. Today was my big tourist day. I did a walk along the south bank of the River Thames and saw the Tower of London (from the outside, as the queue was humongous), Tower Bridge, Shakespeare's Globe (I tried to get into a show, but it was all sold out, so Justen was a sad panda), and went inside the Tate Museum. I even went on a guided tour of one of the exhibits. It definitely solidified for me that art, while nifty, is certainly not my thing. Thumbs up for free admission, though!! I finished the afternoon off with a trip on the London Eye. It was another expensive activity (£15.50), but I'd heard it was worth it. After being on the Eye, I'd agree.
